Locality: Near Mt. Apoi, section 91, Toyukinazawa valley, at place where two edges of rocks meet so that water drains down at bends in the road.

Environment description: Associated species: under Betula, mullberry, fern, big leaf and bamboo.
Comment: USDA ARS 2004 Plant Expedition in association with MAFF No white pine blister rust present. Leaves were very green and healthy.
