Locality: Numerous samples originally acquired from native prairie remnants within the southern section of three tiers of counties located in Iowa. A total of 18 sites were sampled representing 12 counties including Monroe, Clarke (2 sites), Union (2 sites), Ringgold, Jefferson, Washington (2 sites), Appanoose (4 sites), Wayne, Van Buren, Madison, Lucas, Marion.

Description:
Southern Iowa Germplasm was developed by bulking samples followed by a regeneration cycle executed at the University of Northern Iowa Tallgrass Prairie Center where plots were separated via distance of circa 1,500 feet from other Symphyotrichum novae-angliae plots. Original seed was collected from remnant prairies in the southern one-third of counties in Iowa.
