Environment description: Mixed deciduous and evergreen woodland, primarily comprised of deciduous trees in the over story and a mixture of deciduous and evergreen species in the subcanopy. Sandy well-drained soil; high organic matter in the root zone layer.

Narrative
Single- and multi-stemmed shrubs or small trees with gracefully arching and sparsely branched stems; numerous young seedlings as well. Mature plants 1-4 meters tall with stems to 8 cm in diameter. Bark on plants ranging from reddish-brown on young stems to grayish-brown and flaking on oldest stems.
