Narrative
Oilseed sunflower restorer genetic stock that has resistance to the herbicide tribenuron and is available for use by sunflower industry and public researchers to create hybrids, parental lines, or germplasm lines. Resistance to tribenuron was obtained from plants of a wild Helianthus annuus population collected in Kansas. Pollen from these wild plants was transferred to the USDA-ARS Sunflower Genetics Project, Fargo, ND, in the spring of 1999, and was used to pollinate the line RHA 376. Further crossing was made to the lines RHA 392 and RHA 377 to incorporate cultivated plants. Plants do not have anthocyanin pigmentation and have the recessive branched-headed characteristic.
