Environment description: Extensive V. caespitosum colony with scattered V. membranaceum. V. caespitosum in full sun along roadside under edge of mixed conifer canopy Soil had volcanic ash layers and sandy soil under duff layer
Comment: collected on 07/29/2002 V. caespitosum from 1 to 30 cm tall, rhizomatous. Approximately 50 5 of the fruit were ripe on 07/29/2002
