Environment description: Grazed and roadway, slope 6-10%. Aspect SE, open light, loam, always dry, ridgetop. pH=7.8.

Comment: Dark brown soil, sampled to 4 inches. Fenceline adjacent to lightly grazed pasture open to south winds. Green plants; sparce, big heads with no ergot.

Löve failed to provide a description or diagnosis on p. 168, so the genus Pascopyrum was not validly published until a later issue (p. 547), when he then failed to fully cite a basionym for P. smithii
