Environment description: State Hwy. 125; further S. from previous accession; tree adjacent to road growing an top of a small, what appears to be a man-made berm that tops a steep slopt going down from the road; associates; Quercus rubra, Rhododendron maximum.
Comment: Slope; 30 deg., Aspect; plant is S facing on the berm, the slope behind faces north. Partially shaded by surrounding trees. Soil; gritty loam with exposed rocks, good organic layer.

According to Ron Lance, our local guide, this tree fruits and produces viable seed reliably each year. A similarly sized tree growing nearby has no fruit remaining.
