Environment description: Plant is growing just below the crest of a N. facing slope that drops from the road edge; associates, Quercus rubra, Rhododendron amximum, Acer pensylvanicum, Magnolia fraseri, Betula allegheneinsis, Robinia pseudoacacia, Acer rubrum.
