Narrative
M98, muskmelon, similar to ‘Superstar’, monoecious vine, fusarium wilt Race 1 resistant, and resistant to powdery mildew races 1 & 2. Adapted to most areas; maturity 80 days from seeding to harvest (midseason). Fruit 23 x 17 cm (l x d), 2813 grams; oval, netted, conspicuous blossom scar, ribbed (10 ribs per fruit, 5 mm rib width at medial, smooth), sutures deep (Hackensack), smooth, fair (short distance) shipping; fruit do not absciss. Rind firm, net abundant covering entire fruit, medium coarse with some interlacing with shallow interstices; texture firm, 10 mm thick at medial. Rind primary color creamy green with creamy green mottling and furrow (suture) color. Flesh salmon near cavity and center, green near rind; aroma strong, flavor mild. Resistant to powdery mildew and fusarium wilt.
