Environment description: Mixed deciduous/coniferous forest. Open mountain ridge with a North Aspect. Parent rock welded tuff, wtih a soil type of fertile sandy loam.

Comment: Associate plants: mainly Betula ermanii, with a few Abies sachalinensis, with Sasa dominant on the floor.
