Environment description: An opening, sunny area two meters above the stream; very rocky soils with organic matter trapped between stones. Slope: 45 percent. Aspect: Southeast.
Associated species: Staphylea sp.; Lindera sp.; Lespedeza sp.; Populus sp.; Pinus sp.; Rubus sp.; Euptelea pleiosperma, and numerous herbaceous taxa.
Comment: Multi-stemmed, deciduous shrub with upright and slightly spreading habit. Height: 5-6 m. Leaves: dull green above. Seeds collected from one plant. Five vouchers collected (NACPEC96-047). Not photographed. In addition to the listed associated taxa, growing in association with various herbaceous species.
