Environment description: Growing on a rocky outcrop several meters above a stream in part to full sun, in thick organic litter layer in crevices of outcrop. Slope: 60 percent. Aspect: Southeast.
Associated species: Aralia sp.; Parthenocissus sp.; Spiraea sp.; Lindera sp.; Quercus sp.; bamboo, and numerous herbaceous taxa.
Comment: Single-trunked, narrowly conical, needled evergreen tree. Height: 10-20 m. D.B.H.: 30-50 cm. Seeds collected from one plant. Six vouchers collected (NACPEC96-217). Not photographed.
