Environment description: Growing on a rocky slope on an outcrop in a windy, exposed site between rocks, in organic litter layer deposited in crevices of outcrop. Slope: 60 percent. Aspect: East.

Associated species: Salix sp.; Lespedeza sp.; Anemone hupehensis; Populus sp.; Betula sp.; Pinus armandii; Acer sp.; Viburnum sp.; Sorbaria sp.; Euonymus sp.; Abelia sp., and several additional herbaceous species.
Comment: Description: Single-trunked, needled evergreen tree with narrowly conical habit. Height: 10-15 m. D.B.H.: 30 cm. Additional collection notes: Seeds collected from one plant. Six vouchers collected (NACPEC96-216). Not photographed.
