Narrative

Lepaan punainen; Leppa Red; Hinnonmaki Red. The latter two names are incorrect, but often used. This plant is fairly resistant to mildew, is spreading, but can be trained to a trellis. The yields are good but less than Invicta. The fruit is medium large (about 6 to 8 grams average), dark rusty red with a strong and pretty tart taste This is a very good cooker, but not a dessert berry. For pies and jam this is one of the best. This is the plant commonly sold as Hinnonmaki Red (also known as Hinno Red). Ed Mashburn ,May 1999.
