Narrative

Maroon colored carrot developed from selections out of 'Brasillia', an orange variety developed at EMBRAPA in Brasilia, Brazil. 'BetaKing' is a very vigorous cultivar that grows well in warm conditions, producing strong, disease resistant tops. Nantes type with maroon/purple color, sweet, crispy. Bolting not a problem when grown during winter in South Texas, but bolts when growing into longer daylengths in spring (suspect it may be acting as an annual).
