Narrative
Originated by a private breeder in Manitoba probably from seed of Compass. The tree is very upright with undesirable narrow crotch angles. Convoy is unusal in being receptive to producing hybrids with other Prunus species. Barrett produced a number of hybrids of Convoy with peach, almond, and apricot at Illinois. The fruit is larger than Compass, more plum-like, and better quality.
