Narrative
Like Illinois Everbearing, it fruits for a long period of time but for ripening is two weeks earlier. It was more productive in several consecutive years before 1995 at Edible Landscaping, Virginia, than both of their Illinois Everbearing trees. Fruit is black, long at 5cm and slender. Looks like Illinois Everbearing. Original tree from Kentucky. Excellent taste with balanced acids and sugars. Best trait - production, flavor and extended ripening. Information from Cornucopia, Cultivar Listings, page 391: Medium-sized, purplish-black fruit, 1 1/8 inches [2.858cm] long and 3/8 inch [.953cm] in diameter; flavor sweet, with just a trace of tartness, quality very good, on a par with Illinois Everbearing. Ripens over a long period. Tree of medium size, spreading, relatively hardy, very productive. Information from Seed Savers, page 375: Reddish black fruit. Good flavor.
