Locality: Above Palm Desert off of #74 on state wildlife refuge road 1/4 mi. in from #74 before Corrizo Rd.

Environment description: P. fremontii is the dominant woody sp. associated w/ yucca, cholla, mormon tea, and juniper. Soil is decomposed granite with very vew rocks. Slope is gentle and north facing. Trees are just past flowering at time of collection.
Comment: Per C. Weeks: Lot of variation in fruit development. Some trees have fruit just prior to pit hardening, but large variations can occur within large specimens also. North vs. south side of shrub. The south side is more advanced.
