Narrative
Originally received 2/1/94, but it died. also tried to collect on 8/18/97, but it died. Type = Hybrid. Also known as Fennell 509. Self fertile. Information on parentage not yet located. Cross and first year growth in Turrialba, Costa Rica; brought to Lady Lake, Florida, as a year-old seedling where it first fruited in 1952. Cluster 6-8" long, slender, only slightly compound and somewhat stringy. Berries 3/4", round, dark red to nearly black. Pulp melting tender, very juicy, very sweet, clear flavor; slight tannic acid "bite" under skin. Vine is vigorous and healthy on good root.
