Narrative
Type = Tetraploid. Lady Patricia 4X also called B4-1216 is a tetraploid that Herb Barrett produced by cholchicine treatment of the origenal diploid Lady Patricia grape variety. B4-1216 is a large and elongate-ovate ladyfinger type with golden berries. The origenal Lady Patricia was produced by Herb Barrett from a cross of Seibel 14664 x Seyve Villard 20-365(Dattier de St. Vallier) when he was a grape breeder at the U. of Illinois. It was introduced in 1968 and nemed after his wife. More detailed information may be found in Barrett, H. C. 1968. "Lady Patricia, a new dessert grape variety". Illinois Research, Spring 1968, p. 19. Lady Patricia had been used extensively by grape breeders because of its entirely vinifera-type fruit traits, vigor, disease resistance, and will grow in the eastern USA. Lady Patricia is the seed parent of Remaily Seedless.
