Narrative
Standard variety in CA. Fruit large (up to 5 inches in diameter), bright red. Arils red. Juice red, sweet sour. Seeds medium soft. Selected and named by Mr. Bearss. Very juicy. Ripens early. Good shipper. Evaluation by Harry and Gretchen Sanders, Fruit Gardener, June 1991: Large, red skin. Good flavor. Pale tan pink. Discovered around 1896 in Porterville, CA in a group of cuttings from Florida. Ripens late September and October.
