Environment description: Degraded prairie. Nearly full sun on flat ground. Clarion loam soil with fair drainage and no stoniness.

Comment: ~12 coneflowers collected from a population of ~25 flowering plants. Associated vegetation: Ratibida pinnata, Solidago rigida, Solidago altissima, Asparagus officinalis, Artemisia ludoviciana, and Eryngium yuccifolium.
