Environment description: Growing 5 meters above the stream along path at base of cliff and on cliff wall. 90% slope. Rocky outcrops with organic matter deposits in crevices. Growing with Saxifraga sp., ferns, Selaginella sp., Anemone hupehensis.
Comment: 15-25 cm high; single-stemmed, deciduous, herbaceous perennial plants. Leaves are green above, red on veins beneath. Fruit are 3-sided, pink and borne terminally in clusters up to 5.
