Locality: Research station established to test shrub and tree species adaptation to steppe environment. Extreme norhteast corner of Mongolia, approximately 30 km from border with Inner Mongolia.

Environment description: Grass steppe. Disturbed agricultural area.
Comment: Prior to disturbance, vegetation was typical of grass steppe dominated by Stipa capillata and Leymus chinensis. Sprinkler irrigation has been used.
