Narrative
" I am cultivating three hybrids of Cydonia and Pyrus of Veitch's. These plants here are very vigorous and they seem bound to furnish an excellent stock for pears. I am sending you Pyronia A. [a hybrid between Cydonia (Portugal quince) and Pyrus (Bergamotte Esperen), produced by Mr. John Seden in 1895], which will take the name Pyronia veitchii Trabut in my article in the Journal of the Royal Horticultural Society."
