Environment description: Growing on a slope, in a understory, usually on a north-northwest facing slope; typically growing in evenly moist soils near water; in association with Corylus mandshurica, Cornus bretschneideri, Spirea sp., Ligularia intermedia.
Comment: Plant Description: deciduous, herbaceous perennial, single stemmed with a terminal inflorescence; plants range in size from 30-65 cm. tall; leaves ar toothed and pinnately compound; however , foliage has turned brown and is nearly gone;

Narrative
Plant was found in association with Betula platyphylla, Deutzia sp., Prunus sp., and herbaceous species. Fruit are borne in terminal racemose clusters with bright red pedicels, black round fruit.
