Environment description: Growing in shaded understory on north facing slope in good organic matter; in association with Juglans mandshurica, Deutzia sp., Hydrangea bretscheideri, Corylus mandshurica, Schisandra chinensis and Acer truncatum.
Comment: Deciduous, herbaceous perennial plant with fronds arching upward from a central crown; fertile fronds are borne early in the season in the center of the crown in upright clusters.
