Environment description: Growing in full sun on a south-facing slope in dry soils; well drained; in association with Pinus tabuliformis, Malus baccata, Acer truncatum, Spiraea trilobata and Fraxinus sp.
Comment: Deciduous, multi-stemmed tree, pyramidal spreading with stiff branches to 4 meters tall; bark on trunks grayish, exfoliating in plates to expose orange bark beneath on older stems; DBH 13cm; fruit round, ~1.7cm diam., orange to dark red.
