Environment description: Growing in the understory 0.5 meters above the stream on a west facing slope in constantly moist soils; in association with Ligularia intermedia, Corylus heterophylla, Salix sp., Ulmus sp. and numerous moisture-loving herbaceous plants.
Comment: Deciduous, herbaceous perennial with deeply toothed, pinnately compound leaves and an erect inflorescence, 1.5 to 2 meters tall.
