Environment description: Growing between boulders above a seasonally active stream on a western slope in the valley; in association with Ulmus macrocarpa, Spiraea trilobata, Deutzia scabra, Philadelphus grandiflora, Prunus armeniaca and Schisandra chinensis.

Comment: Deciduous, multi-stemmed trees 8 to 10 meters tall; 15.8 to 18.4cm DBH; leaves cordate, 5.0 cm long and wide with sharply serrate leaf margins.
