Environment description: Growing in rocks near the stream in association with Weigela florida, Spiraea trilobata, Juglans mandshurica, Allium sp., Rhamnus sp., and Vitex negundo var. heterophylla.
Comment: Erect, deciduous, multi-stemmed shrub, 1.5m tall and 1.5m wide with strongly furrowed bark; leaves dark green above and lighter below; indumentum on undersurface of leaves; new growth has reddish stems; fruits are borne in pairs.
