Environment description: On exposed rock ledges. Growing with Lindera obtusiloba, Salix, Acer, Quercus, Rhus, Sambucus, Aralia.
Comment: Multi-stem evergreen shrub .5-1m tall. Leaves dark green, scaly underneath. Fruit green, scaly. Herb. spec. NEK 286.
