Environment description: Growing with Betula schmidtii, Pinus densiflora, Abies holophylla, Rhododendron schlippenbachii, and R. mucronulatum nearby.
Comment: Tannish grey exfoliating bark. Lvs. tinged with purple autumn color. Multi-stemmed shrub. ca. 75-100cm. Green capsules col. from several plts. Scale insects on leaves. Herb spec. NEK 213.
