Environment description: Growing on an exposed rock outcrop in full sun, well-drained gravelly soils in association with Ilex sp., Rhododendron sp., bamboo, Taxus chinensis, Lindera sp., Betula sp., Acer sp., Cornus kousa, Fagus engleriana, Pinus sp., and others.
