Environment description: Along road at base of steep slope in moist, well-drained gravelly soils; in association with bamboo, Lindera sp., Stachyrus chinensis, Cornus sp., Miscanthus sp., Hydrangea sp., ferns, Iris sp., Astilbe sp., and numerous herbaceous plants.
