Introduced from Chapingo, Mexico through the Texas Agricultural Experiment Station. Obtained from Texas A and M University, College Station, Texas by Tall Timbers Research, Inc., Tallahassee, Florida in 1965. Obtained from Tall Timbers by Lew Yarlett, then State Range Conservationist for the SCS in 1967. Planted at Brooksville, Florida PMC in 1971.
