Taxonomic Determination :
The seeds were inspected and determined to be Chenopodium berlandieri: C. berlandieri; rounded seed margins, rounder seed, adhering pericarp, pitted seed coat. 04 Nov 2022.
Taxonomic Determination :
An additional taxonomic study in the fall 2024 greenhouse reached the same conclusion as the 2022 study. David Brenner grew this accession beside PI 595315 and concluded that they are different because the blades of PI 595316 are more lobed. PI 595316 has no yellow spots at the base of the styles, so it is distinct from C. berlandieri Moq. subsp. berlandieri var. zschackei although similar. It was classified as C. berlandieri with no variety determined because it does not fit a recognized sub-specific variety. 23 Oct 2024.
