Environment description: Grazed. Slope 0-5%, aspect S. Open. Soil heavy cracking clay on limestone, pH 10. Rainfall 300 mm. Moist, basin. Vegetation closed, seasonal tall grass. Surrounding veg. degraded evergreen open forest with closed lower layers, cereal-range.

Associated species: Swale-meadow by roadside. Dominant tree sp. degraded Quercus ilex. Dom. shrub sp. degraded Juniperus phoenicea. Dom. herb/grass sp. strawberry clover, tall fescue. Assoc. sp. thistles, Phalaris, Lotus c., T. resup., M. lup.
