Environment description: Grazed. Slope 0-5%, aspect S. Light open. Soil loam on schist bedrock, pH 6.0. Rainfall 700 mm. Moist meadow in watercourse. Vegetation closed, seasonal tall grass. Surrounding veg. evergreen open forest with closed lower layers.

  • Accession Has Site Narrative: This accession was used to document the cost of endophyte infection in a grass-endophyte symbiosis. This cost, manifested as reduced root:shoot ratio and photosynthetic shoot fraction, was evident for infected Lolium perenne growing under conditions of extremely poor substrate nutrient availability. 2006.
