Narrative
Multistem, small tree grown to height of 7.3m, width of 7.0m in 25 yrs. Sinuous, mottled dark cinnamon brown trunks and older branches spectacular throughout the year. Plant continues to exfoliate with age, insuring brilliant bark display every year. Leaves dark green, elliptical, average 8cm long, 4cm wide and have yellow autumun color. Multiple-branced inflorescences range from 10 to 15cm long (13cm average) and 7-14cm wide (10.5cm average). Blooms in Wash., D.C. from late June through early July. Adaptable to same cultural conditions as other crape-myrtle cultivars. Most easily propagated by softwood cuttings from juvenile plants. USDA cold hardiness zone 7B, and has withstood -23 deg. C. Foliage completely resistant to powdery mildew and requires no chemical sprays.
