Narrative
Upright moderate sized flowering cherry that has grown 7.6m high and 6.1m wide in 12 yrs. Bright pink flowers emerge in late March and early April in Wash., D.C., a week after Okame begins to bloom. Dark green leaves show moderate resistance to insects and remain dark green throughout the summer. In fall the leaves change to an attractive orange red. Large (15cm long, 5cm wide) dark green leaves remain evergreen in USDA cold hardiness zone 6 and may prove evergreen in zone 5. Plants most readily propagated by softwood cuttings.
