Narrative
Plant mainstems produce only lateral branches which produce an alternation of vegetative and reproductive branches, usually in pairs. Fully mature fruits generally two-segemented. Seed huge, > 1.4g, have appreciable fresh seed dormancy and pink testae. Resistance to necrotic-etch leaf disease of unknown etiology. Widely used as a parental line in U.S. breeding investigations. Cultivated as a garden crop. However, its large pod size, moderate yields, and susceptibility to pod diseases make it unattractive for commercial production.
