Narrative
Coarse perennial grass with extensive creeping rhizomes. Stems stout and up to 9 ft. tall. Leaves elongated and mostly flat, up to 3 feet long and 2 inches wide. Selected from a comparative evaluation of wetland plants for constructed wetland use including Typha latifolia, Panicum hemitomon, Scirpus californicus and Scirpus validus. Propagation by direct vegetative increase. Anticipated conservation use constructed wetland systems of southeastern U.S.
