Narrative
Dark green, leafy, good resistance to rust and leaf spot diseases. Begins spring regrowth several weeks earlier than tall fescue. Harvests taken as late as 12/27, without hurting stands. More productive during hot summer months than other cool-season forages. Can be grazed in Feb. or March during milder winters. Easily established, excellent reseeder. Cover and forage plant for surface mines and marginal low-fertility hillside pastures. Short-term cover on mined sites with low-fertility levels. Especially adapted to droughty soils in the Appalachian region.
