Narrative
Sport of Hollar strain, Honey Dew Greenflesh (open-pollinated variety). Field ws not yet ripe, the sport was fully ripe. In addition to earliness, the new find was larger (~6.5 pounds), smoother (no ribs or depressions on surface), had more sugar, and longer shelf life. Uniform, stable, free of variants over 6 generations. Fruits turn creamy white with a golden blush spot at maturity; standard lime green flesh (flesh color near center of fruit going out from cavity is white compared to rest of flesh which is green). (Fruits of Honey Dew Greenflesh remain green at maturity with no color changes.)
