Narrative
Preliminary results indicate the yellow seed color is controlled by duplicate recessive genes. Strain has been used as a marker in pollination studies and production of F1 hybrides. Forage and seed yields are approximately 85 and and 200%, respectively, of recognized cultivars.

Developed from S-8799 with the selection of 3 yellow-seeded plants in the third generation. Four generations of subsequent selection were required to get a stable pure-breeding, yellow-seeded stock.
