Narrative
Small, erect, deciduous shrub. 130 cm high and 120 cm in diameter when mature. Stems stiff and finely branched. Canopy with 115 cm. Flowers pinkish-white, perfectly bell-shaped, and approximately 0.5 cm in diameter in spring. Snow-white fruit produced in late summer and fall, drupe, and reach 1.5 cm in diameter. Leaves average 3.5 cm long and 2.7 cm wide. Produces numerous stems, leaves, and fruit. Recommended for use as an understory plant with other shrubs and trees in conservation plantings, hilltop snowbreaks, eyebrow plantings, wildlife food and cover, and along roads and highways for plant diversity. Partial shade tolerance. Wide range of adaptability on silt loam soils with a minimum of 16 inches mean annual precipitation. Also grows in moderately shallow, sandy, gravelly soils. Hardiness: Zones 5 to 6.
