Narrative
Amphiploid hybrid (2n=6x-42) between diploid form of bluebunch wheatgrass (Pseudoroegneria spicata), PI 232132, and tetraploid thickspike wheatgrass (Elymus lanceolatus), PI 236663. Genome constitution SSSSHH. One set of S genomes from bluebunch wheatgrass (SS) and other set of S and the H genomes from thickspike wheatgrass parent (SSHH). Culms large, more leaves per culm, and longer and wider leaves than either parent. Spike characteristics and rhizome development intermediate to parental species. Self fertility varies widely, averages 34-50%.
