Narrative
Iwate Yamanashi (Pyrus aromatica) seeds collected in Japan by Dr. Ichiro Kajiura and sent to M.N. Westwood. Received in Corvallis, Oregon by Westwood on 10 May, 1983. Original collection from Iwate prefecture, Japan, approximately 141.5 degrees E. longitude, 39.5 degrees N. latitude. Similar to P. ussuriensis, but some fruit russetted. Trees hardy to north Japan. Hand crossed at Tsukuba: Iwate No. 4 x Iwate No. 6.
