Narrative
Collected in Romania by Tom van der Zwet on 30 August, 1978 (collector number R-12) at the Experiment Statioin in Baciu (near Cluj). He described the fruit as small and round, possibly a wild Pyrus nivalis hybrid. -- van der Zwet collection notes, 1978.

As grown at NCGR-Corvallis, the foliage and distinctive spreading growth habit appear identical to several clones of Sorbopyrus. The fruit size is intermediate between Sorbopyrus CIGC 28 (from Washington Park Arboretum) and several large fruited clones. The phenotypes of PI 506381 and PI 506382 appear to be identical. -- J.
